TV internet phone bundles are becoming more and more common amongst the big name cable provider companies. These types of service bundles allow a lot of convenience to the customer – the most central convenience being that the customer no longer has to go to different companies in order to fulfill their needs for phone, internet and television. Cable systems also prove to be very fast and efficient, with unmatched internet speeds and television programming offers. The customer can also pay for everything on a single bill, and by subscribing to a service bundle, everything comes out to a fairly discounted price. The competition is roaring because of these types of deals, as companies compete heavily with each other in providing voice, video and data services to different subscribing residences. Regardless of what company are offering TV internet phone bundle, it’s commonly referred to as triple play. Recently, some companies are even beginning to offer free wireless solutions to their subscribers.
TV internet phone bundles are possible with cable systems due to the way that coaxial cables transmit data, including radio frequencies and digital light pulses. Stated simply, the cables are capable of transmitting large amounts of data, without having …

The recent announcement from Netflix that it plans to increase some prices by up to 60 percent resulted in tens of thousands of negative comments on their Facebook page within 24 hours. On Thursday a poll on CNET had already attracted over 18,000 responses of which 55 percent said they would cancel their subscriptions if the price hike went into effect on September 1 as planned.
The price hike will mainly effect those subscribers who choose both the streaming and DVD plans. Netflix will no longer offer one price that covers both, instead customers will be charged separate fees of $7.99 for each service. That means an increase from $9.99 a month up to $15.98. If you prefer Blu-ray DVD’s the price goes to $9.99 and if you want to rent two DVD’s at one time you will be charged $11.99 each month.
In April the company acknowledged that it was looking for ways to encourage multiple users in one home to each have their own Netflix account. As of now only one movie can be streamed at a time, but later this year the company hopes to offer the option of streaming multiple movies at one time from …

By now most savvy web users are already aware that certain companies will sometimes pay their employees, or offer other incentives to them, for the posting of artificial reviews on sites designed to help users find out about various products and services through publicly posted reviews. The Federal government in the United States has stepped forward in an attempt to put a stop to this by insisting that those who post reviews on the web and stand to gain financially from said reviews must let the public know about this. The agency in charge of the changes, the Federal Trade Commission, has stated that a marketing company in the state of California settled with the FTC over charges that it engaged in ads of a deceptive nature through having people in its hire write and post positive reviews about games its clients paid to market in the iTunes Store that belongs to Apple without giving notice that they were paid for the reviews they wrote. These are among the first of charges to be put on web companies as part of a new set of rules that apply to online endorsements. While the rules have been said to be intended …

Google, Inc. the search engine giant and ever expanding empire of web based services has announced that it recently purchased a start up social network site called Angstro, a small site that builds apps for the exchanging of info across social services by pulling in data from social networking niche sites like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Experts see this as Google’s attempt to expand into the social networking market which it has, in the past, struggled to achieve in success in. One of the founders of Angstro, Rohit Khare, posted to his blog recently that he had been hired by Google to work on a social networking related project, but sources were unable to confirm which project that is since Khare declined to comment on its specific nature. Khare has long hoped to have open social networking across multiple sites so experts in the industry believe that he may have been brought on board Google to help create software or services that would head in that direction and, if the results desired become achieved, open up that market for users who would otherwise need to maintain multiple presences across multiple sites.
Those close to Google have observed that the company has …

The social media world has been growing at a blistering pace so it comes as no shock to analysts that the Time Warner Company owned America Online would want to get involved in the fray – and they did. To the tune of $850 million, AOL bought the social networking site Bebo only two years ago, but has found competition within the social networking sector of the online market to be especially fierce. To this end, the company has decided that the investment was in poor judgement and is seeking to either rid itself of Bebo or perhaps sell it if possible. In the face of competitors like MySpace and Facebook, Bebo has simply not been able to compete and its business model has actually lead to a decline in visitors. In a sector of the web industry where scale is of essence, Bebo weighs in with just under 13 million users compared with Facebook’s nearly 463 million users. While Facebook grew by a full 68 per cent in February 2010 alone, Bebo sank to sixth place on the list of top social networking sites and shrank by 45 per cent.

In the past months popular web based review site Yelp has been facing some complaints from businesses over how it conducts its own business and has now begun to take action to address these concerns and grow its user base in the process. The site has taken steps to change the way it has previously allowed those companies that advertised with Yelp to have their favorite review at the top of their page. Instead, Yelp has chosen to listen to the core constituency that patronizes the site and offered to change things so that small businesses will get more of a fair shake since they are not often able to afford to advertise online. The site’s main premise is to allow visitors to review local businesses in their area, such as retail boutiques, donut shops and hair salons. As useful as the site’s user base has reportedly found Yelp to be, a number of complaints have come up that have accused the company of favoring those businesses that advertise with the site. Things reached a boiling point when 10 small businesses banded together to file a federal level class action lawsuit …
